Make Designing Your Website A Breeze

You’ve made the decision to build a new website for your organization. You’ve even decided on a web design company to work with. So, what’s next, do you just hand over the reins of this huge project and hope for the best? No!

There are lots of things you can do to work with your web designer to create a website that accomplishes your goals and showcases your organization. Your web designer will need information, content, photos, and feedback from you throughout the process. The sooner you are able to provide these materials the sooner your designer can start building the site.

The following is a list of things that the web designers at MIBS, Inc. ask for from our clients for. This helps us better understand the needs of each of our clients, so we can craft a site that benefits them and their customers.

Goals & Examples:

What do you want to accomplish with a new website? Is it primarily a marketing tool? Do you want customers to be able to buy your products online? Who is your target audience?

All of these things effect the design and structure of the website. So, it is important to provide your web designer with answers to these questions right from the start. You should also be clear with your web designer about how you want the website to look. One effective way to do this is to provide examples of websites you like and websites you don’t.

At MIBS, Inc. one of the first things we ask for is examples. This helps us better understand what you like and what you need. We use the examples our clients provide as a guide for understanding what features to include or how to incorporate branding into the new website.

Information:

The next thing your web designer will need is information about your organization. This helps the designer in two ways. Firstly, it helps them better understand what your organization does so they can design a website that meets your needs. Secondly, the more information they have the more they can include in the demo site so you can get a better idea of what the finished product will look like.

Necessary information about your organization includes:

  • Your organizations official name, phone number, email address, and hours of operation.
  • A 4-5 sentence elevator pitch and a list of the services you offer.
  • high-resolution copy of your official logo. Ideally it should be a 500 px wide .PNG file.
  • Both written and visual content. This can include page content, blog posts, photos, video, etc.

Answers & Feedback:

Once you have compiled all this basic information and sent it to your web designer, they will be able to begin building the website. At MIBS, Inc. We develop a live demo site and provide clients the login credentials so they can see the site as we build it. This makes it easy for clients to provide feedback throughout the process. At MIBS, Inc. we encourage feedback because we want our clients to get the website they want.

The decision to build a new website for your organization is big. And it can be hard to hand over a project like that to someone else. But the right web designer will work with you throughout the process to ensure you get the website you want. Providing examples, information, and feedback will help make the process smooth and seamless.
